Face finder
Finds faces so crops, blurs and ID layouts know where the head is. It does not identify anyone; it only finds face-shaped regions. Size: 230 KB. License: MIT. Based on YuNet.
Used by Smart crop, Passport photo maker, Profile picture maker, Blur faces and Pixelate faces.
Person cutout
Separates a person from the scene, keeping hair as soft edges. Size: 25.9 MB. License: Apache-2.0. Based on MODNet.
Used by Background remover, Background changer, Background blur, Background colour, Person cutout, Background opacity, Sticker maker, Passport photo maker and Profile picture maker.
Any-subject cutout
Separates products, pets, cars and other objects from their background. Size: 88.1 MB. License: Apache-2.0. Based on ormbg. It downloads only when you pick Any subject, and it takes around 17 seconds per photo on WebAssembly, a second or two with WebGPU.
Used by Background remover, Background changer, Background blur, Background colour, Background opacity and Sticker maker.
Quick enlarger
A tiny 3× super-resolution network that gives sharper edges than ordinary resizing. Size: 240 KB. License: Apache-2.0. Based on ESPCN.
Used by the Fast option in Image upscaler.
Detail enlarger
A 4× super-resolution network that rebuilds texture and edges. Size: 4.9 MB. License: BSD-3-Clause. Based on Real-ESRGAN general x4v3.
Used by the default Detail option in Image upscaler.
Object remover
Fills a painted area with what was likely behind it. Size: 26.6 MB. License: MIT. Based on MI-GAN.
Used by Object remover.
How downloads and caching work
Nothing downloads until you start a tool that needs it. The editor first shows the model's name, exact size, license and whether it is already on this device. Larger models wait for you to press Download. The small ones, Face finder, Quick enlarger and Detail enlarger, start after one press of the tool's main button. You can cancel while a download is running.
Model files come from our model file server and are kept in your browser's cache. A model is fetched once and shared by every tool that uses it, so the person cutout you download for Background remover is already there when you open Passport photo maker.
Removing models
This page shows which models are stored on this device. Use the clear button next to a model to delete it, or clear them all at once. You can also delete them by clearing this site's data in your browser settings, which removes anything saved with Save to this browser as well. A removed model downloads again the next time a tool needs it.
